Re: Bleher's discus #2: missing USA history

Hi guys, just back from Naples, helping to get the greatest Italian International Discus Championship and Aquatic Festival: NapoliAquatica 2011 off the ground and I see these posts and can hardly believe it. And I did not read all of Mr. Ellermann's texts, if I had that time I would do something mor...

Re: Bleher's discus #2: missing USA history

Hi Mr. Ellermann, I am sorry I cannot take the time you have, and what it seems to me, is that you do not read what I wrote: "I can publish an possible Errata in my final volume 3 of Bleher's Discus. You must understand that I must have it for the reference and also to proof what you are saying is c...

Re: Bleher's discus #2: missing USA history

Hi Mr. Rellermann (or Ellermann?), I am very sorry for this late reply, but I left April 2nd - when my new book was in print after 40 years of work on it, doing research on the world-history of breeding Discus - and I only returned 4 days ago, after field trips in Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, Iran, ...

Re: Suggestion to update the Symphysodon species

Hi, Mr. Tobler and thank you for putting your name here, this what you are saying is actually what it was all about: to have a constructive thread, that is what I intended to start (as elsewhere). I wanted to point out why on this forum the scientifically accepted names are not recognised, as it see...

Re: DISCUSBOOK01 - new publication on Discus & Angelfishes

Hi RM, and I really am only answering to you out of correctness. I do not have these problems anywhere else and I can only think of having them here because fishes is my work - all my life - and nothing else, and because I am the only one who works with fishes and am the only one who does certainly ...

Re: Suggestion to update the Symphysodon species

Hi, The tone I have, is because you drag this issue on now for years and seem nothing else to have to do. I did try to tell you several times if you would invest your time productively and teach people nice things of what you have done, and show them the nature and the biotopes of fishes, you would ...

Re: Suggestion to update the Symphysodon species

Dear Willem, first of you do not read well (maybe it is your English?): 1. I am NOT retired and I never will sit on my ass do nothing but waste my time to find errors which are not there - at other before those of yoursel (I do it). 2. I told you in Helsinki, you should study ichthyology as you mix ...

Re: DISCUSBOOK01 - new publication on Discus & Angelfishes

Hi, finally I have a moment while holding Amanda in my arms. Contrary to what Mark and Philippe write, I have always been a very correct person and never lied – was educated this way – but I have one error, and that is : I trust people, and I should not. Yes this has been the error of my life (my mo...

Re: Suggestion to update the Symphysodon species

Dear Willem, sorry I do not get informed from this forum when there is a question (most other so). Also: I am not retired like you and have to make a living, in addition I like what I do and will do it until I disappear and I have at least a thousand other things I am doing (like we have at this ver...

Re: DISCUSBOOK01 - new publication on Discus & Angelfishes

Hi guys, it is really very interesting to read some of your comments. And first of all, what you write Lisa is a fact, but very vew want to see that (at least not some on this thread) - and not only books, trips, links to other commercial sites, etc. But there are people on this forum who do not lik...

Re: Lac Fwa?

Hi, yes I have photos of all, and details and what you, Mark, wrote long ago is what has been happening: misidentifications all along. In short: 1. The fish Poll described (I saw the sepcimens) as H. callichromis in 1948 is NOT the fish I named "Picasso fish". 2. Tyson, who is the only other one bes...

Suggestion to update the Symphysodon species

Hi guys, I can only suggest to update the names of the genus Symphysodon on this great site. S. discus Heckel, 1840 S. aequifasciatus Pellegrin, 1904 S. haraldi Schultz, 1960 S. tarzoo is a nomen nudum and the subspecies have been synonomized since 1986. Re: Cichlids in India?

Hi, yes, It seems that everyone copies everyone. I only write and document what I see with my own eyes (my grandfather was a great teacher to me, a fish and plant lover...). I have done many expeditions to India (actually finishing a large book on its freshaeter fishes, over 850 species, hope to bri...

Hi, first of all you all must forgive that I write, or better make, so many typos, but I have so little time to go over my written texts and I wish Cichlidae.com hat, like many other sites already, autmatic English corrections... Anyhow, I only wanted to tell you all that I wrote an extensive articl...

Re: A Crisis in Fish Systematics - open access pdf article

Hi, thanks for posting this MS. I can only congratulate the authors, because we are really in a crisis of taxonomy. And only because of so many are publishing only molecular results, often without ever havening even seen the specimens. I, being a managing editor of a scientific journal now for nearl...
