Re: Anyone can guess the collection point on these Paratilapia Polleni Bleekeri cichlids?
Thanks! I transferred them to a 125G not long after and they spanwed a nice batch of frog looking eggs. I noticed the next day they had moved some or most of their eggs around and unfortunately there eggs were eaten. Both became greyish-brown afterwards. 1 week later only the male was black and now ...

Do Brichardi practice crowd/population control?
:D I have 4 generations of healthy brichardi in a 60g bowfront aquarium 40" long. Temp 77-80, pH 8.3, kh 11, gh also at 11. They would be in much higher numbers if i hadn't accidently raised 150 leleupi fry in the same tank with Brichardis while removing 2 Leleupi months ago. It was amazing to see t...

Advice & ID on Andinoacara Rivulatus (Green Terror)
Hello, would anyone know if Andionacara Rivulatus (Green Terror..Fake Green Terror...) look a bit different than other Rivulatus from different locations along the Esmeraldas river in Ecuador? Re: More Red Forest Jewel Fry, Help
Where do you think you could go with 700, or even 70 Hemichromis lilifali? Most shops would not want them They are good parents, and I don't think the eggs will be leid within a few weeks, but it would be best not to raise too many Hemichromis. That being said, even if there would be a market for 7...

Here is lifalili (Moanda) Hemichromis_lifalili1.jpg Thank you, yes I was wrong for sure. I subscribed to the Cichladae website (Cichid forum companion) and saw all the nice pictures by Anton Lamboj and others for Hemichromis species. Mine don't look like any of them though, but probably some select...

Re: How do you guys do it? Raise Kh while keeping Ph at neutral?
Yup, I realize that, however I will buy it once or twice a year to add 0.0007 of strombite. Seriously though, I am getting a tds meter and maybe a Magnesium/Calcium test kit for fun, curious to see what my ratios are for those 2 main ones. Curious to see what is going on in the Tanganyikan, Riverine...

Re: How do you guys do it? Raise Kh while keeping Ph at neutral?
Hi there, everytime I measure the KH it's around 3-3.5. So I gave up and bought Acid buffer and Alkaline buffer. I don't use RO but would like to lower my steady pH in my 75 gallon Red Jewel tank (w/1-2 plants) from 7.3-7.7 to 6.8-6.9 and higher my Kh from 3 to 5. Can someone tell me a way to calcul...

Re: Help with a massive aquarium & fish placement setup
Stress sensitive fish are better not put in the bottom row of a set up. Why? Can't say it exactly, but imagine me walking along the tanks. Low tier fish see my pair of legs, moving, bending, while higher tier fish see my trunk coming along. Top tier fish might see my head coing along, which will no...

Re: Help with a massive aquarium & fish placement setup
Not sure I think fish hate being on the bottom. It's just a new situation to them and they need to get used to it. I wouldn't worry too much on the not eating yet. Most fish will get over it soon enough and begin eating. If they seem too skittish, add more decor/plants/caves. They like to feel secu...

Question on joining the ACA and content availability
Hello, I'd like to join up, I'm just wondering is there any information for each or on most species concerning the waters they originate from & their properties? Such as KH, GH & PH Levels, etc? I'm looking for information mostly, such as parameters, breeding info, geogrpahy, geology, etc don't real...

Breeding a lil Red Texas son of a gun
I picked up this Red Texas, or saved him rather, from a chain pet store that barely takes care of their fish, really lazy looking people just walking around besides 2 girls. Anyhow, almost all of them had hole in the head probably due to malnutrition or lack of tank maintenance. I've had him on Metr...

How do you guys do it? Raise Kh while keeping Ph at neutral?
Hey all, I came by here in case you guys might have some answers to this problem. I'm keeping Red Jewel cichlids and Green Texas and planning on getting a Green Terror as well. How do you guys liwer the Ph while highering the Kh? Say you want to keep the Ph between 6.5-6.9 and the KH around 5. How c...

More Red Forest Jewel Fry, Help
Hey all, so I currently have a nice Red Forest Jewel (Hemichromis Lifalili) pair in a 75 gallon aquarium with about 300 fry now (there seemed to be around 6-700 in the start). The fry are 10 days old now and about 5-6mm long with a black stripe showing in the middle of their bodies. I have a problem...
