Re: Male or Female

females can turn to black !
A long time ago (around 35 years... at least) I had a "male" johanni. I've looked for females for him... till I've seen him laying eggs

Re: Parachromis multifasciatus vs P. loisellei

Thanks Ingo,
I remember that many years ago (30, 35 ???) "loiselei" was allready called friedrichsthalii.
An old article in the journal of the french cichlid association explained why it was not... So wrong idea :?

Re: Chindongo sp. 'elongatus thumbi'?

I.m now in germany, i'll read the article when I'llbe back. MAy be I didn't read it before.I don't remember.
THe problem with the article from RFC is that there is no argument. IF there are arguments in Cichlid News, it will be ok for me.

Re: Chindongo sp. 'elongatus thumbi'?

Juan, if you are speaking about the publication in RFC 177 may, 2018. It has no scientific value. One of the first things Patrick says is that the genus Chindongo is not well diagnosed. DOes he give a new diagnosis ? No. But he includes spc in the genus, such as the johanni group. WHy ? No idea beca...

Re: mixing feather fins

If you have many sand area it's better and you can try to keep more than one sp.
If you have rocks around you can add "lamprologus" (SL), julis etc..

Re: mixing feather fins

I think it's not a good idea to have more than 1 sp over the sand (problem of territory) or you have a really very large tank. You can try one Ophthalmo sp and one callo or Xeno sp but nothing more if your tank is at least 2 meters long. Cyathgopharynx needs a large tank. Don't forget that featherfi...
