Re: Pointers on My Species List For 125 Gallon Tank

125 gallons is not a lot of water when dealing w/ CA/SA cichlids. The Carpintis will dominate that tank in no time, even @ that size. You will have problems sooner rather than later. And an Oscar will get annihilated in that set-up. If you want dither fish, use Silver Dollars, & I would just get a p...

Re: Some of my Central American Cichlids

I do 75% water change every two weeks. They are still juvenile now and I may need to thin out when they get big. I have 3 other 75 gal tanks to move fish around. The nitrate ranged from 20 ppm after water change up to 60 ppm before water change. The skittishnes has nothing with the water quality, b...

Re: Some of my Central American Cichlids

I am also amazed that they can get along, and even spawned regularly. It must have to do with Vieja species being every tolerant. I am currently growing up a single male Bifaciastas, Fenestratus, Melanura and Synspillum in a 125 gal tank along with a pair of green terror and several small African h...

I've had them before, this one is the 1st I've had w/ a downright evil temperament, which is why I named him Darth Maul.

Re: Nandopsis Tetracanthus

Just the way I do things......no emotion involved, just curious.......I had a male Cuban some time ago, I sold it due to extreme aggression. You said you had a BT Shark..... as in Bala shark, or did you mean Red-Tailed Black Shark?? I currently have a RTBS, & it is one of the more aggressive fish I ...

Re: Some of my Central American Cichlids

Good looking fish. I know they can be aggressive, but I don't think you would get away w/ this set-up w/ Parachromis or Nandopsis.

Re: Some of my Central American Cichlids

Tank is overcrowded, but I think that the species involved may be the reason why. I know that this wouldn't happen w/ Parachromis or Nandopsis. You would have a blood-bath on your hands. They do look well-kept.
