Steatocranus sp. "square head" timeline-fry to fry

Sorry for this being so image intensive, but wanted to share a timeline of the Steatocranus sp. "square head". 30 days old http://www.laterallinephotography.com/WestAfrica/Albums/Album21/Source/_MG_3681.jpg http://www.laterallinephotography.com/WestAfrica/Albums/Album21/Source/_MG_3682.jpg 40 days o...

Re: Steatocranus sp. "square head" pics

I say pair like because it was not nearly as obvious as most pair bonding fish I have kept. The female would allow the male in the area, but they never seemed totally at ease with each other. The first indication for me was when the others were killed. I feed them for the most part spirilnua flakes,...

Re: Steatocranus sp. "square head" pics

To give a little history on my group. I acquired them last year and I had 5 of them.. Everything was fine until about the last month or so. I was starting to see some dominance issues and was keeping a close eye on the group. Unfortunately I still lost two of them to aggression. I have 3 of them lef...

Re: Steatocranus sp. "square head" pics

Here are some more recent pics...they have gained size nicely, but slowly. I am not an overly aggressive feeder either in frequency or amount http://www.laterallinephotography.com/WestAfrica/Albums/Album21/Source/_MG_6589.jpg http://www.laterallinephotography.com/WestAfrica/Albums/Album21/Source/_MG...

Re: Updated Iranocichla pics and a few others

Thanks for the comments. No spawns yet, but the male transformation is becoming even more pronounced and I hope to see some soon.

I know it is Asian, but most of the pics were African and nobody looks at the Asian section

I am really digging the sp. "square head". It looks like 2 of them have paired off. I have had them for almost a year

Updated Iranocichla pics and a few others

I walked into the fishroom last night and the dominant Iranocichla was a dark gray color. Up to this point they have always been an off white color. In addition, the dominant fish has also started to develop some speckling in his body and fins. They are about 9 months old now http://www.laterallinep...

Re: Picked up my first group of Featherfins

I only mentioned red, because that is what was in the pics I saw when googling. I mostly keep Westies and will not hesitate to say that these are new to me and I am trying to learn as much as possible. Thanks for the detailed response

Re: Picked up my first group of Featherfins

You may very well be correct on the Xeno ID. I am hoping the experts here can help me. They were given to me as X. sima

Picked up my first group of Featherfins

These fish are a real joy to watch. I took these shortly after acquiring them http://www.laterallinephotography.com/Tanganyika/Albums/Album7/Source/_MG_6869.jpg http://www.laterallinephotography.com/Tanganyika/Albums/Album7/Source/_MG_6852.jpg http://www.laterallinephotography.com/Tanganyika/Albums/...
