I was afraid of that. Unfortunately these photos were taken in a California fish store and we no longer have access to the individual fish in question. :(

Re: Tropheus moorii "Zongwe Yellow Murago" ID confirmation

Yes, most certainly a juvenile fish. Unfortunately we don't have a picture of the adults, or access to the fish as it matures. :( I may end up contacting the importer/breeder directly to see if we can get pictures of the fish this one was bred from...however in the past I have found this to "ruffle ...

Re: C. afra "Red Top White Blaze Lundu Point" ID confirmation

Looks like what you have is a stressed/dominated/juvenile or C. sp. 'mbamba'. Not an afra and the rest is just a junky 'trade' name. Typical adult male will look like this: http://www.safhl.net/davesfish/images/Cynotilapia%20sp%20Mbamba%20Lundu.jpg Definitely a stressed looking fish in the picture ...

Re: Sciaenochromis fryeri "Tanzania Redspot" ID confirmation

You would be better off removing the name "Tanzanian Redspot" and instead, give the precise collection locality in Tanzania. Agreed. Unfortunately all we have is the "list" supplied by the shop from the importer/breeder...so the closest we can get is "Tanzania" (Which isn't very exact!). Probably b...

Re: Melanochromis labrosus ID confirmation

I think Melanochromis would be better between quotes for this species. I'm guessing that you don't feel that this fish belongs in the Melanochromis genus, handr there is no paper establishing a new genus...is this a correct assumption? It certainly doesn't share a lot of the visual characteristics ...

And yes, I believe the fish in the picture is a juvenile.

Unfortunately we no longer have access to these particular fish as the pictures were taken in a retail store in California (with permission from the store owner) and the fish in question have most likely been sold.

It looks to be very small as that is a sponge filter it is hiding under. Probably under 2 inches.
