Re: summer shelters

I'm from Portugal and I'm keeping several tanganyika species in a pond. They are still there currently, but I'm planning in bringing them in by the end of the October. During summer, and late spring, my biggest concern is the temperature delta between day and night and the fact that during a really ...

Hi,

Those Cyps in the pics, in fact resemble the pictures in the description, and I have no problem in seeing C. coloratus in them. But these don't have any colored edge (rim) on the dorsal and anal fin.

Beautifull fish and pics by the way. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Thomas, Thank you for the info, but I already knew that picture, it's probably the most know picture of goldfin on the net, and that's exactly my problem. When try to compare that picture with the ones Dr. Takashi used in the species description, something is not right, in my eyes at least. Ad's ...

Could you tell us how you did the study, and what results did you get, even if they weren't conclusive?

Did you experimented with Lepidolamprologus present in the same tank, or was it just the moonligth?

I would really like to hear about your study.

I've done some research about the article describing coloratus, and apparently Dr. Takashi believes that this especies is present in the hobby as Jumbo Cyp, C. sp "GoldFin". I've tring to find Goldfins, either in local fish store ou on Web sites, because all the pictures I've found look different fr...

I also add spirulina powder from capsules in my shrimp mix, along with some garlic besides all the other regular ingredients. But i've never added it directly in the water. I'll have to try it out.

Thanks for the answer.

Hi James Shingler,

How do you seed your tank with spirulina? I've heard that before, just wanting to know how to do it.

Best regards

Hi Dan,

The event is June 2006, and yes, you are right, we should've considered more lead time, but it's our first big event, so some mistakes will hopefuly be corrected on the next ones. As for this event, there is nothing we can do to correct now.

Thank you for your advice.

Hi, Thanks for your answer Thomas. Do you think that if I could swap the tank described, for something like 110 L x 50 W x 60 T, could positively improve my stocking options? I've read somewhere that it was possible to mix, more than on Xeno type in the same tank, by picking a sand and a rocky type....

Sand Dweller Tank size?

Hi, I'm thinking of setting up a sand-dweller tank. What would be the minimum size for it? And what kind stocking could/should I do? I'm planning a bigger tank for my comunity Tanganyika, a 120/140 cm tank, which would free a 100x40x40 tank? Could this be appropriate? What would be my stocking optio...
