Re: Revision of Astatoreochromis

Hi As yu both said it depends where yu put the cursor, as the species concept wich is not so clear. The genome if very different, could show how related they are, the time of divergence, so it could help. I'm not saying that this is the absolute evidence.

Re: Revision of Astatoreochromis

Hi has there any genetics studies made, so it would clearly show if the straeleni genome is different from the vanderthotsi genome?

Re: Victorian C.A.R.E.S. Fish with Well Defined Pedigree

Hi Lisa the H.phytophagus I saw two differentiated species under that name belonging to two separated species( even Les Kaufmann and Seehausen have great doubts about this fishes) Platytaeniodus .sp"red tail sheller" this species doesn't belong to this genus at all. I made measurments of the teeth f...

Re: Greenwood and Haplochromis

Hi the <Leiden searchers have made the remark that those genera were not so obvious in their segregation, some fish may be classified in one or two genera, so even Dr PH Greenwood stated that it was not so pertinent at the end, so This doesn't mean that his works are put aside but that some of his g...

Re: indoor pond question

Hi It envisageable, but yu can keep at leats 3-5 very differentiated species in such a volume, friends of mine did keep 5 species of vics in one 1500 liters aquarium and that was very nice. Re: Question on crossbreeding

Hi, Normally yu can keep the 2 species in the same tank as long as they have enough females for males and the tank is big enough for the males to create and rule their own territories.

Re: i need some help and guideance!

Hi Almost all the species can cross breed, the manner to be sure to not see this is to house species with very different morphologies and color pattern in the same tank.

Re: ID help please

Hi
Ok, thanx for the pix, it looks to me that the female morphology is intermediate between P.nyerrerei and another species. it seems that yur fish looks like an hybrid judging from the male and female body form and color.

I'm sorry to say that. :(
