Error in Cichlidae.com Haplotaxodon Photo

Just bringing to everyone's attention that this photo

https://www.cichlidae.com/species_picture.php?id=20727

is not Haplotaxodon microlepis, but an undescribed Haplotaxodon species first discovered by the Karlsson brothers in 2008.

Photo of all three newly described species, plus photos of H. taurinus and H. paradoxus. Very interesting species for sure.

5 New Petrochromis desribed

We all knew that it was not proper to lump most of them all into P. polyodon.

Re: Redescription of Vieja hartwegi (Taylor & Miller 1980)

I wonder if that question could ever be answered. Perhaps depending on the ichthyologist working with this rapids dwelling form, some might have described it as a new species.

That rheophilic morph sure looks like a different species, but I guess not.

Re: Mastacembelus albomaculatus vs moorii?

Unfortunately, I do not have any additional images of these three species. It is a real crapshoot when ordering in mastacembelus from the lake, as you usually get a lot of various forms of intermediate.

It looks like M. sp. "Intermediate" to me, but am not 100% sure.

Re: Undescribed Equadorian cichlid?

I agree with you completely. Unfortunately, old habits die hard, and some newbie hobbyists still want to call the M. geyphyrum being imported incorrectly as M. ornatum.

Re: New Hemibates sp

The moment Rich Bireley saw Konings famous image of this species during a talk nearly 20 years ago, he immediately recognized it as a new species of Hemibates . A few years later on, when I saw it in his 2nd edition Tanganyikan cichlids book, it was clear that it was a new Hemibates species, even th...

It would interesting to know if both this new species and L. fuelleborni are found sympatrically at the location of this new species.

Neolamprologus chitamwebwai / helianthus

Or, how about Neolamprologus chitamwebwai? Cichlidae.com sees it as valid, but Konings sees it as N. walteri.

And, Neolamprologus helianthus is recognized on Cichlidae.com as valid. Konings sees it as N. splendens.

Telmatochromis brachygnathus

Might I ask of another species? Cichlidae.com views Telmatochromis brachygnathus as a valid species, even though Konings considers it, in his latest Tanganyikan cichlids book, to be T. temporalis. Will Cichlidae.com follow suit?

Re: Labeotropheus simoneae

If that is the case, why are you accepting Ad's opinion on the status of L. melagris/L.stappersi? After all, he just gave his opinion on the matter, right? It certainly was not a code regulated act.
