What ever happened to.........

.... that mysterious cichlid that Hans van Heusden found in the Mululwe River in Zambia & wrote about in Cichlid News / July 2014? Pictured on page 10. Was it a Pseudocrenilabrus? And in the same article - the suspected Astatotilapia swynnertoni from the Luwalisi River...... any chance either of the...

Go to You-Tube and search "le roux openwater". Divers in Lake Guinas with several moments of a very mixed school of T. guinasana color morphs.

Re: Tilapiine in Oman on television

Thanks to all for the good information! Greatly appreciated. So it appears the blue / black blotched fish eating the fig might be male galilaeus with piebald coloration? They are again, very attractive what ever they might be.
Thanks again!

Tilapiine in Oman on television

Hi! There is a series showing on the National Geographic television channel called 'The Great Human Race'. On episode 104 the people come to a stream in coastal, eastern Oman. The stream is full of a Tilapiine cichlid and there are some fleeting, but nice views of them, both in and out of breeding c...

Etroplus maculatus - Blue Form?

Hi! In the book 'Freshwater Fishes of Sri Lanka' by Rohan Pethiyagoda (1991), there is a discussion on the Blue or Cyanic form of E. maculatus from western Sri Lanka, between Colombo and Puttalam. Does any one know more about this fish? There is a nice picture of it in the book. It looks like it wou...

Oreochromis variabilis?

How nice to see the article on the Ngege (Oreochromis esculentus) in the latest Cichlid News magazine. My favorite Victorian as of late. Very curious about the status of the other endemic, O. variabilis (the Mbiru) in the hobby. Does anyone ever keep this species? Do the 'maradadi' color variations ...

Hemichromis 'Fin Biters' in the wild?

Hi, I was in a position to recieve small shipments of various 'Red Jewel' Hemichromis for many years. Both wild and tank raised. Generally young fish of one or two inches. I always found it amazing that they would eat the tails off of any fish kept with them. Up to and including the fastest mbuna. G...
