Re: Kyoga flameback setup?

Honestly, they are quite easy fish to keep and breed, you should be able to flood your friends, LFSs and clubs with these :) There are far better experts here, but mine do well in a 40 long, some cover, some plants (I can only keep plastic ones), a few rocks for territory definition and cover. Not p...

Re: Changing from Tanganyika to Madagascar and questions!

Dave's Rare Fish in TX has adults. I bought some a few months back, at $59 each, they are not cheap, or are they? Hard to compare these guys and worth every penny, IMO.

Ganza thank yous!

Just wanted to post a hearty Thank You for all that make the Extravaganza possible! We had a blast, got some great fish, made new friends and strengthened old friendships. Kudos to all!

Re: fish room automatic water change systems

Each of us have different needs, experience and set ups but I use an irrigation controller and PVC piping to spray water in tanks with overflows. Using well water so no treatment needed but keep an eye to temperature variation. Each tank gets a daily exchange of 10-15%, water enters the front of the...

buy sell trade forum?

HI All,
I've asked this question directly twice (via OhioCichlidAssoc@aol.com) to no avail and even asked at the auction. Is there a buy sell trade forum for members? Thought there was and joined a couple of months ago but cannot find/access such a forum. Help!? Thank You!

Re: Fish room air pump setup

FWIW, my setup is a Gast 1/8 HP blower. 1" pipe, looped, at 7 1/2' off floor, 260 outlets. No "deep" sponge filters, probably 12-14" down is the most (use bottom-based sponges with risers for 24-30" deep tanks. No issues and just ran 6 40' soft lines to outdoor tubs, still plenty of air. Excessive b...

ACA C.A.R.E.S. species maintained

For no apparent reason, thought it worthwhile to post a current list of ACA CARES species maintained. This list changes a bit, I'm prone to pass on species that are not producing for me in the knowledge that changing fish keepers, water sources, diet, maintenance schedule, light and tanks can cause ...

posting issues!!!

I've added many pics, a comprehensive list of fish maintained and considerable text to this page, but NONE of this has posted!?!? Hoping to share info, but I'll just go to the man-cave again and siphon out more fry!

I mis-posted these in another area, but here is another attempt.

Before you deride my photography skills, know that I am aware of the complete lack thereof. Yes, my housekeeping skills are a close second, but every piece of debris you see is from a recent or ongoing project. Debris changes constantly but is never absent. The pics were taken when there were very f...

Fish List

This list was posted on another forum, and of course there is some alteration over time, some bought, sold, traded (and yes, killed) and some new arrivals. This list is a few months old and will be updated around year end but for now, it will suffice. All cichlid quantities are appropriate for their...

Foods

Ahh, now this is a contentious topic amongst us aqua-holics! I know, I know, "All I feed is blah blah brand" and "Blank brand massive-monster-Moby Dick Chow is the best, Dude". I've been all over this spectrum from 7 lb tubes of Tetra Doro-Min sticks to earthworm flake to minced market shrimp to bla...

Tank, rack and filters installed

Mmmmm, on to the tanks, the fun part of room setup and construction! Most of the room has industrial steel racks. I chose 24" deep racks with a mix of 75" and 100" horizontal beams, bought 12' tall uprights and cut them in half for a top shelf height of 6'. With the 9 1/2' ceiling, I strongly consid...

Fishies

This page/blog is briefly stalled by...life! Daddy-duties, the dreaded j.o.b. (such as it is) and a complete lack of photography skills. Also been refining the brine shrimp hatchery system and improving the inventory of foods fed daily. There is never a perfect place to start, but beginning with one...

Man-Cave details

Hello all and welcome to "The Cichlid-Keeper's Man Cave". Foremost, I'd like to thank Juan for his site. IMHO, it is the premier private cichlid site in the world and only the ACA site is more important to our future as aquarists. A brief introduction, I've kept fish for all of my adult life and my ...
