Re: A few pics of my Kigoma Cyps.

Kigoma cyps are a little bit different. Some of these looks like jumbo but they smaller than a jumbo. Scientific name can be different than true leptosoma varieties.

Re: 300L Mbuna Biotope Aquarium

Beautiful setups and fish. I’ve been keeping Tanganyikan cichlids for long time and now I decided to go for a 300lt Malawi tank. My main fish is Copadichromis mloto ivory head and i also want to add a mbuna species. What would you suggest? My favorite is P.saulosi but I couldn’t find a proper 5-6 st...

Re: Breeding for Color variation in Tangs.

I’m keeping Tanganyikans for 15 years and my main motivation is to keep them is ,most of them are ‘pure’ strains, both in hobby and lake. If someone wants to keep hybrid fish or selectively breed fish they can go for malawi Cichlids, discus or live bearers. If i see a red Cyprichromis or yellow foai ...

Re: melanogenys

I think you should change your bottom material to fine sand which is their natural need, also gravel sized material can harm fish's mouth.

Re: Cyathopharynx foai (Sibwesa) F1

Nice fish but it looks like C.Furcifer "ruziba" or "resha" absolutely not Foai or "sibwesa".

Foai has darker coloration,no yellow patches at head, "sibwesa" variant has some copper colors on flanks etc...

Re: Mouthbrooding Kribs?

Mouthbrooding tecnique has evolved from substrate spawning. So it's not a big suprise choosing "partial mouthbrooding" for a African cichlid like Krib or related species... That's how the true mouthbrooders evolved. If there's a predator pressure on fry or eggs ,they can try different approaches like...

Re: My new tank 2255 l

Thank you for your precious replies... it's a choice to have 3 different species from same genus, which I don't choose even if the tank is big enough and species are can't inbreed... But I'm not sure if the breeding tecnique prevents hybrids between them. After the fertilization occurs, some 9-10 ol...

Re: My new tank 2255 l

Being maternal or bi-parental breeding is nothing to do with cross breeding possibility. You refering as apples and pears for X.Nigrolabiata and X.papilio huh ? My post is not a comment, I asked if someone have proper pics of "females" of both species... And I told only singularis can be distinguish...

Re: My new tank 2255 l

If you don't think they crossbreed ,can you add pics of 3 different species of Xeno females, let's talk with pictures. I couldn't find proper pics of females on web. How can you distinguish difference between females especially between nigrolabiata and sp. "Papilio sunflower" females ? Singularis ( ...

Very nice selection of rocks, background and fish. Looks like the lake itself... Every aquarist must aproach to fish keeping hobby like that congarts. The fish are not pets, you can't make them happy by giving nicknames and feeding from your hands, your love won't be enough... We are maintaining a sys...

Sidguppy is right about the dimensions. Males can build nests 2 foot diameter,so give them some bottom area and swimming space.

I have C.Foai "Sibwesa"

Re: My new tank 2255 l

Superior dream tank, beautiful idea ! Looks like you have 2 tanks in 1. I think you are obsessed with "butterfly group". 25 x Xenotilapia nigrolabiata 9 x Xenotilapia sp. "Papilio sunflower" Kipili 6 x Xenotilapia singularis Ndole To keep 3 variants of same speices can cause hybrids and it's very ha...
