Re: Inline heater

I like the inline heaters but you need to match up the proper size to your canister filter plumbing. I've only used them on tanks 75G or larger. They are nice since they aren't inside the aquarium.

Miles, what is the tank size and dimensions?

Do you currently have any other fish in the tank?

Re: mixing feather fins

I'm not on Facebook either but did check out some of the pics that were posted on there and WOW you have quite a project going on!!!! There is a section at the very bottom of the main page forum for creating a Blog for ongoing pics and updates, I think you need to get it approved by a Mod first but ...

Re: Is my fish sick or frightened?

It could be stress related and the fish is being harassed by the others.

Which species fish do you have and which one is the one that is having problems?

Re: FS: 30,000 pounds of aquarium substrate

Hey Frank, nice to hear from you!! This sounds like a great opportunity for someone that owns a fish shop but shipping logistics could be an issue. If the product is loose, it would require the need to repackage the product in the normal 50# bags the product normally was sold in. Color choices would...

Javi, Photobucket no longer allows free linking to forums so your pics are not visible, at least to me. Try uploading your pics directly from your device to the forum.

Re: Jumpstart cycling from existing tank questions

In my experience, if you are just transferring fish from an existing smaller tank to a larger tank, all you need to be sure of is to have the new tank properly dechlorinated, up to temperature and using the existing mature filter media or filter. This procedure assumes you will not be adding any new...

Re: New to cichlid experienced tropical what fish?

You mentioned wanting to keep fairy cichlids so I will assume you mean Neolamprologus brichardi correct? If so, I would keep a pair or a trio and add no other fish. Your tank is relatively small for cichlids so you will be limited by which species you can keep. Your tank dimensions are about 20"L x ...

I thoroughly enjoyed the speaker and her talk yesterday and it would be interesting to see how her future 'experiments' on turbidity and diet turn out so please keep it her in mind for a future talk.

Re: Impeller Axle for Eheim 2217 Canister Filter

Yes, ceramic is hard but brittle so it doesn't bend well and definitely fractures when dropped on a hard surface such as my basement floor. :( I've learned to gently pull it out of the impeller well, wipe off any debris and put it in a safe place while cleaning the rest of the filter.

Re: Impeller Axle for Eheim 2217 Canister Filter

The Eheim 2217 ceramic impeller shaft is 0.117 diameter x 3.4375 long. The diameter was measure with a micrometer and the length with a rigid steel ruler. I initially broke a couple of the shafts during maintenance but have learned to be more careful when removing them from the pump head and putting...

Re: Extravaganza auction

Lew, is it possible that since the fish were re-bagged that the seller was charged a fee for that service? I don't think there were even a dozen bags of re-bagged fish so that may help narrow it down if the club notes that type of fee on the seller sheet or payment invoice. Just a thought! Sorry I c...
