Need more details to help you.

How long has the tank been set up and how long have you had this fish?

Post aquarium test results for pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.

What are you feeding?

Any other tank mates? Do they also have similar symptoms?

Re: Please help!!!

Well it would be helpful to have the proper test kits if you want to know your water parameters especially if you are a new hobbyist or your tap water fluctuates throughout the year. How many fish are in this tank, how large are they and what species are you stocking? It is possible as the fish matu...

Re: Please help!!!

Sorry to hear of your loss! You should have a reading of zero ammonia, zero nitrite and some level of nitrate over zero in a cycled tank. Do you only have the ammonia test kit and if so, what was the PPM reading you got? How much water do you change weekly and do you use a water conditioner that tre...

Pool filter sand is a cheaper option than aquarium sand though it usually only comes in white, off-white or tan colors depending on where you live.

Re: Mysterious Mass Death

Welcome to the forum!! How did you cycle the tank before adding livestock? You posted a reading for a nitrite level above zero and a nitrate level of zero so my guess is the tank isn't cycled yet. Are you using any type of dechlorinator when you add new water to the tank? If so, post the brand and t...

Re: external filter bit noisey

An external canister filter should last more than a couple years but some parts are considered normal wear and tear and should be replaced.

Have you checked the impeller for wear or damage?

Can you better describe the sound the filter is making?

Re: Inline heater

I like the inline heaters but you need to match up the proper size to your canister filter plumbing. I've only used them on tanks 75G or larger. They are nice since they aren't inside the aquarium.

It could be stress related and the fish is being harassed by the others.

Which species fish do you have and which one is the one that is having problems?

Re: Jumpstart cycling from existing tank questions

In my experience, if you are just transferring fish from an existing smaller tank to a larger tank, all you need to be sure of is to have the new tank properly dechlorinated, up to temperature and using the existing mature filter media or filter. This procedure assumes you will not be adding any new...

Re: New to cichlid experienced tropical what fish?

You mentioned wanting to keep fairy cichlids so I will assume you mean Neolamprologus brichardi correct? If so, I would keep a pair or a trio and add no other fish. Your tank is relatively small for cichlids so you will be limited by which species you can keep. Your tank dimensions are about 20"L x ...
