Re: TANK MATES

If you feed it well it’ll reach a foot in a year, so definitely needs a big tank.

Can’t access the main site

I’m having trouble accessing information on the main site. I log in, then when I want to read anything it asks me to log in. I click ‘log in’ and it tells me I’m logged in. We go round in circles like this.
(I log in to the main site using the name Mark Wright).

123.6 mm (and not cm) in the original description.

Thought it strange that I hadn't heard of this 4' cichlid. Terrible error by FishBase, what are they thinking?!?

Re: What Is The Largest Cichlid Species?

Just looked at FishBase to see whether it had Cichla or Boulengerochromis as the larger, and discovered a new fish.... Hemitaeniochromis brachyrhynchus from lake Malawi. According to FishBase it can grow to 124cms SL.

Urophthalmus identification

Does anybody know of any pictures of live specimens of the 'urophthalmus spp' that have been verified? Thanks

Re: Ornatum or Gephyrum

The ornatum in the catalogue picture seems to have a square or very slightly indented caudal fin, as do the pictures on the first page of this thread, while the catalogue's gephyrum picture is decidedly rounded, as are Oldrich Rican's gephyrum pictures on this page. Seems too easy, anything in this??

I thought gephyrum wasn't valid yet? Is Dr Sven working on this?

Re: Electric Blue Jack Dempsey hybrid or not?

I'm not a fan of hybrids either, but there are many combinations that would produce seemingly healthy fish (from various pictures) and some of them are actually very nice looking fish (I still disapprove). It's worrying that the only ones that 'catch on' in the hobby tend to be the weak and/or defor...

Re: SOS no one helping me

You need to check your water, it sounds like a water issue to me. And then, probably, big water changes, and stop adding salt, it isn't helping. Does the pond have a cycled filter?

The most beautiful Heros for me too, they're stunning.

Would you happen to have a link so I can see Oliver's lists? Does he do lists? His fish seem very hard to find...

Thanks

A picture out of the bag now it has settled would help. I'm guessing female.

Re: Heterochromis multidens at home

Hi, I'm looking for this fish, in the UK. Does Oliver still do up-to-date stock lists (I can't find one) or would this be a case of catch-to-order? Any help in finding some of these beauties would be greatly appreciated.

Heros severus... m or f ??

I think its female, but I have my doubts because of a) the dorsal extension b) the tube is part-down, and although I know you cant tell from a partly-down tube outside of breeding, this one really does look like the tip of a male tube. It looks too long to be the corner of a female tube c) another f...
