Conservazione: Crenicichla hadrostigma è valutata dalle organizzazioni internazionali di salvaguardia delle specie a rischio come (VU) Vulnerabile (2018). Crenicichla hadrostigma is a rheophilus species distributed in a region where there are 27 dam projects installed or under construction and 51 in prospecting. Specifically, there are four hydroelectric plants in the area where the species was recorded: Passo São João, Monjolinho, Foz do Chapecó and Itapiranga. In addition, there are dozens of projects from other hydroelectric projects in prospecting in the area of occurrence of the species, which will probably make the population of the species severely fragmented (ICMBio, 2022).
