Conservation: Rhamphochromis woodi is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2018). Rhamphochromis woodi is a common species, it is not targeted by the ornamental fish trade, but is regularly caught on hook and line by subsistence fishermen. Currently no major, widespread threats are known (Konings, 2020).
