Based on their molecular phylogeny, Concheiro et al. (2007) suggest that 'C.' grammodes will be assigned to a yet undescribed genus. Based on the biogeography and the similarities between species, I suspect that this new genus will also contain 'C.' istlanum, a species that occurs slightly south of 'C.' grammodes on the Pacific coast of México.
