Original description as Chromis fenestrata:

Synonyms:

  • Heros parma Günther, 1862, with type locality at Mexico and Guatemala. determiner: Conkel, 1993.
  • Cichlosoma gadovii Regan, 1905, with type locality at Motozorongo, Mexico. determiner: Conkel, 1993.
  • Cichlosoma sexfasciatum Regan, 1905, with type locality at Mexico. determiner: Conkel, 1993.

Conservation: Paratheraps fenestratus is not evaluated by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (2008).
