Paralabidochromis chromogynos (Greenwood, 1959)
最初命名為 Haplochromis chromogynos:
- Greenwood, Peter Humphry. 1959. "A Revision of the Lake Victoria Haplochromis Species (Pisces, Cichlidae), part III". Bulletin of the British Museum (Natural History) Zoology Series. v. 5(n. 7) pp. 179-218 (crc00302) (摘要).
保育: Paralabidochromis chromogynos 被評鑑為國際自然保育聯盟瀕危物種紅皮書名單中的 (VU) 易危的 (2010). Paralabidochromis chromogynos along with many other small cichlid species from Lake Victoria did not fare well by the upsurge of the Nile perch (Lates niloticus) in the 1980's. During this decade, Paralabidochromis chromogynos disappeared from most all "known" locations in the north of the lake (Kaufman personal communication). In the southern areas of it's range, it was not seen after 1982 (Witte 1992). I speculate that when Paralabidochromis chromogynos was discovered at Zue Island, it was the reminisce of a once large and stable population. This fish has not been seen at this locale in recent years. In addition to being predated upon, falling lake levels in recent years do not bode well for near shore species set in stable micro environments. At best, this species should be considered critically endangered.
