Original description as Lamprologus brevis:

Synonyms:

• Lamprologus taeniurus Boulenger, 1914, With type locality at Tulo, Lake Tanganyika. Determiner: Maréchal, 1991.

Conservation: exLamprologus brevis is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2006).
