Original description as Batrachops scottii:

Synonyms:

• Crenicichla (Batrachops) multidens Steindachner , 1915, With type locality at Rio de La Plata, Argentina. Determiner: Ploeg, 1989.
• Labrus amarus Larrañaga, 1923, With type locality at Uruguay.
• Crenicichla lacustris semifasciata Devincenzi , 1939, With type locality at Río Uruguay at Paysandú, Uruguay.

Conservation: Crenicichla scottii is not evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species
