最初命名為 Labidochromis chisumulae:

保育: Labidochromis chisumulae 被評鑑為國際自然保育聯盟瀕危物種紅皮書名單中的 (VU) 易危的 (2006). Labidochromis chisumulae 的分布範圍很小, 但是在Chizumulu 島附近還蠻常見。 牠太小隻而不會被圍網捕撈另外牠不容易被抓到也是因為牠待在跟岩石底層很靠近的地方。 所以沒有跡象顯示這個魚種是受威脅的, 或是在可見的未來會受到威脅。.
