Melanochromis baliodigma Bowers & Stauffer, 1997
最初描述为 Melanochromis baliodigma:
- Bowers, Nancy & J. Stauffer. 1997. "Eight new species of rock-dwelling cichlids of the genus Melanochromis (Teleostei: Cichlidae) from Lake Malawi, Africa". Ichthyological Explorations of Freshwaters. v. 8 (1); pp. 49-70 (crc00126).
同种异名:
- Melanochromis xanthodigma Bowers & Stauffer, 1997, 标本产地来自于 Makanjila Reef, Lake Malawi, Malawi. 鉴定者: Konings, 2001.
保育: Melanochromis baliodigma 由国际自然保护联盟（IUCN）在濒危物种红色名录中为自然保育而进行了评估 evaluated (VU) 易危（Vulnerable） (2006). I believe it is not more threatened than most other Malawi cichlids. Most populations are small but it is not a rare species or one with a narrow distribution.
