Synonyms:

• Crenicichla santaremensis Haseman , 1911, With type locality at Lagoon along margin of Amazon, 3 miles above Santarém, Pará, Brazil. Determiner: Ploeg, 1991.

Conservation: Crenicichla macrophthalma is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2009).
