Original description as Crenicichla lepidota:

Synonyms:

• Crenicichla edithae Ploeg, 1991, With type locality at Arroyo Itabu-Guazu, Paraguay.

Conservation: Crenicichla lepidota is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2009).
