Thorichthys maculipinnis spawn at Los Caños River, San Juan Evangelista, Papaloapan Rver drainage [México] (may-2012). Eggs can be both placed on sunken leaves or rocks
Thorichthys maculipinnis pair with fry at Dos Caños river, Papaloapan River system [México]. Populations of this species from the eastern part of the Papaloapan drainage show a rich yellow in their coloration
