• Cichlasoma champotonis Hubbs, 1936, With type locality at Río Champoton, Janateya, Campeche, 34 km east of the mouth, Yucatán, Mexico. Determiner: Miller, 1984.

Conservation: Thorichthys helleri is not evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species
