Conservation: Metriaclima mossambicum is not evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species Even though M. mossambicum was never encountered in huge numbers, its relatively large distribution area and the fact that it lives in close proximity to rocks prevents it from being over-fished.
