Herichthys pantostictus (Taylor & Miller, 1983)
Original description as Cichlasoma pantostictum:

- Habitat: Secondary rheophilus
Type locality: Laguna de Chairel near Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
Inhabited countries: Mexico (endemic).
Localities: Axtla River (Mexico, native), Choy River (Mexico, native), Coy River (Mexico, native), El Salto River (Mexico, native), Jaumave (Mexico, native), Panuco mouth (Mexico, native), Río Mante (Mexico, native), Rio Tigre (Mexico, native), Tampaón River (Mexico, native).
Conservation: Herichthys pantostictus is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (VU) vulnerable (1996).
