• van Oijen, Martien J.P & M. P. de Zeeuw. 2008. "Haplochromis vonlinnei spec. nov., a piscivorous haplochromine cichlid (Teleostei, Perciformes) from the Mwanza Gulf area of Lake Victoria, Tanzania". Zoologische Mededelingen. v. 82 (n.17); pp. 167-175 (crc01517) (abstract).

Conservation: Haplochromis vonlinnei is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (CR) critically endangered (2010).
