Conservation: Cryptoheros myrnae is not evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened speciesThe extensive cultivation of banana in the restricted area of distributon of this species, particularly in the Rio Estrella in Costa Rica and the province of Boca del Toro in Panama with the consequent use of toxic agrochemicals has have a negative impact on the fish populations of these drainages and represents a major threat to this species (Loiselle, 1997).
