Synonyms:

• Haplochromis annectens Regan, 1922, With type locality at Buddu Coast, Lake Victoria [Victoria Nyanza]. Determiner: van Oijen, 1991.

Conservation: Haplochromis prodromus is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (DD) data deficient (2010).
