Highly respected and experienced aquarist, Pam has visited cichlid habitats around the world, and bred in her's and her husband Gary fish house hundreds of cichlid species. Prognathochromis cryptogramma Greenwood & Gee, 1969
最初命名為 Haplochromis cryptogramma:

保育: Prognathochromis cryptogramma 被評鑑為國際自然保育聯盟瀕危物種紅皮書名單中的 (DD) 資料缺乏 (2010). We don't have data about the survival of this species in the Nile Perch Era, perhaps some found refugia against predation by the Nile Perch but nothing is known, as no records for this species have been made since its discovery. No collection has been reported from its reported distribution, so its seems logical to think that it may be endangered or extinct in the lake.
