Original description as Perissodus microlepis:

Synonyms:

• Perissodus burgeoni David, 1936, With type locality at Nyanza, Burundi, Lake Tanganyika. Determiner: Poll, 1956.
• Perissodus gracilis Myers , 1936, With type locality at Kigoma, Lake Tanganyika, Africa. Determiner: Poll, 1956.

Conservation: Perissodus microlepis is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2006).
