Copadichromis chrysonotus (Boulenger, 1908)
Original description as Paratilapia chrysonota:
- Boulenger, George Albert. 1908. "Diagnoses of new fishes discovered by Capt. E. L. Rhoades in Lake Nyassa". Annals and Magazine of Natural History. (Ser. 8) pp. 238-243 (crc00068).
Conservation: Copadichromis chrysonotus is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2006). Although Copadichromis chrysonotus is a member of the utaka, which at the moment is the group of cichlids most threatened by overfishing in Lake Malawi, its preference for schooling above rocky habitat in relatively shallow water seems to exempt this species from the onslaught carried out on the other members of the utaka.
