Original description as Lamprologus savoryi pulcher:

• Trewavas, Ethelwynn & M. Poll. 1952. "Three new species and two new subspecies of the genus Lamprologus, Cichlid fishes of Lake Tanganyika". Bulletin de l'Institut Royal des Sciences Naturelles de Belgique. 28 (50); pp 1-16 (crc00055).

Synonyms:

• Lamprologus brichardi Poll, 1974, With type locality at Kasoje, off the beach and across the river, Tanzania. Determiner: Duftner, 2007.

Conservation: Neolamprologus pulcher is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2006).
