CICHLIDS IN THE IUCN RED LIST OF THREATENED SPECIES: The International Union for the Conservation of Nature prepares and updates a list of species which are evaluated in their status of conservation in nature. This is done according to a given set of rules prepared by the organization, producing a conservation status for each species in the Red List Of Threatened Species, made available by the IUNC. 1,013 cichlid species are classified as evaluated in the Red List. Those species are listed here together with links to their Cichlid Room Companion species profile and the IUNC Red List status page. Classifications for the Red List include Extinct (EX), Extinct in the wild (EW), Critically endangered (CR), Endangered (EN), Vulnerable (VU), Near threatened (NT), Least Concern (LC) and with Data deficient (DD)
