I had a great time at the convention. Thanks to all the speakers and all the volunteers that made it a huge success.

I really enjoyed Juan's talks on Herichthys and Thorichthys. I am still very new to Central American cichlids, so these talks cleared up a lot of the questions I had about these fish. My only regret is that I didn't act early enough to get some of Dan Woodland's Theraps wesseli. That fish really intrigues me.

It sure looks like you had a lot of fun...great! :D

Who are all those people in the first picture Juan Miguel posted? I think I can put a name to some of them: Juan of course, Pam Chin, Lisa and Ken, the tall guy in the back must be Joe, and Mauricio in the front....Ron Coleman with closed eyes?

Please fill in the rest, it´s fun to have a face linked with a name :)

All the best, Thomas

You're supposed to say I did not include the names to protect the innocent, I mean offenders!

I am working to provide links to some of my photos now. Minor problem: most of what I have is probably unprintable here. Go figure...

Anecdote and Photos

Postby Joe Middleton » Wed Jul 26, 2006 5:44 am

A little anecdote (some of you might know about this)...

Rusty called me on Sunday night during the auction. He said to me that he was already in Louisville and that someone (Lee?) left him a brown box in his room and it was being held for him at the front desk. It contained live fish and he wanted me to look after it for him to make sure it found a home. So I went up to the front desk and inquired about it. They said they had nothing. However, they said if they found something in Rusty's Room -- 312, I think -- they would transfer it to my room, 531. Great, I said.

So time passes and Steve Lundblad -- my roommate for the ACA -- goes on up to the room for more beer. After about fifteen minutes he calls me and asks me if I bought more beer in addition to what we already had. "No, of course not", I say. He goes on to tell me that someone entered the room and dropped off almost a case of Bud Light and a four pack of Coronas....but no fish! So we brought down the beer, iced it up, and put a sign on the box..."Free Beer!" and put this in the auction room.

Lo and behold...there can never be enough free beer in life...[/i]

More Exhibits

Ric Perez offered many tours to his fish room during the weekend...

A certain "man in green" was hijacked into the hospitality room Friday night, with some Floridians claiming no responsibility...

From the B.I.T.C.H. auction on Friday night (anyone else notice that the ACA no longer uses this acronym? It was a BOT decision to avoid its use. Nice way to say "thanks," eh?)...this picture shows Caroline, an apprentice on the lap of the Great Pumpkin:
