I never saw this species in the US listing, we have this species for a while in Europe. It's a paedophagous species ,eating embryos and larvaes of others moothbrooding females.
another predator
Pixychromis parorthostoma Jinja, we have it from germany but it was in the hobby fro a while under the name orthostoma(this fish doesn't fit into the Greenwwod description of the orthostoma)

Humphrey Greenwood offers details on Pyxichromis orthostoma (Regan's 1922 original description is noted and referenced) in his 1969 revision of Lake Victoria Haplochromis species.

Chris I just obtained a small group of Prognathochromis (Tridontochromis)"silver stiletto". They are adults with a ratio of 3 males and 2 females. Any tips on their keeping?

Hi Gas
I didn't kept this species but I know a friend of mine is keeping them, A group of 6 fiches are kept inna 300 L tank with rocks and plants such as Anubias bateri, nana and Microsoriums. the male can become quite agressive when the females are ready to spawn and becomes bright silver
with a black body underpart. Some are much more intolerant than the others with their conspecifics. relatively shy when kept with rock's fishes needs to live with more peaceful species than mbipis.

That's great news! They are both very difficult to come by here in the US.

Hi Samaki

Might you have additional photos of your P. parorthostoma to post? Perhaps a male in spawning dress??

Have you managed to spawn this species yet??

Keep up the good work!!

Mark

Hi
I just caught 8 fry with yolk sac from H.melanopterus and 20 from H.sp"orange rock hunter" It seems that the Melanopterus female do not hold so many eggs. But as she is young and may be it's her first experience with brood I hope to have more youths the next time.

Great news, Chris! I've been on the lookout for some melanopterus for a couple years now with no luck.

I'd definitely appreciate that, Chris! Thanks! To be honest, they'd go straight to Greg. He has better luck propagating fish than I do.

Hi dave, bad news, we have a heat wave this week end and my air pump made a brake so I lost all of the group of brood
I'm sorry, was so happy to have fry from melanopterus
:( It'll be good the next brood.

No problem. They'd probably be full grown adults by the time I could get them anyway! I'm sure you'll have many spawns in between.
