Feeding live food to your sandsifters

Postby SydCic » Tue May 30, 2006 1:07 am

Hey everybody,

I have a question about feeding live foods - daphnia, mozquito larve to sandsifters. This food would be home grown in barrels.

Do you consider this to be safe or too risky for these fish in terms of introducing disease? Or have you had any experience with this?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

Although I only have American cichlids, I'm quite nervous regarding diseases too.

In my back yard I have a few 'ponds'3 of them are without fishes. A lot of musquito lavae and Daphina grow in them, and I have no problems feeding it.

Still, as stated. I know nothing of Tangs

I've never had problems. I use cyclops, ostracods, daphniae, many larvae (not red), diatoms and algae.

There is nothing to worry about, as long as the live food doesn´t come from a lake or pond that contain native fish, which is not the case as you intend to grow them in barrels. Your fish will really thrive on it :)

All the best,

Thomas
