Heros, is the name right?

Postby Hans Andersen » Sun May 20, 2012 7:51 am

Hi cichlid friends :D

I have some Heros "Rotkiel" and want some more spieces. I am first of all looking fore the mouth breeding type, I belive it is Heros Severus?
I can get it from Verduijn but I am not sure if they have the name right or it is the right fish with a wrong name. They call it "Heros severum rio negro"
Can you please help me a little with that. Here is the website: http://www.verduijncichlids.com/aquariu ... cat/heros/

Thank you
Hans

Yes, I think it's the mouthbrooder species.

Thank you, I Will order some of Them.

I got an some Info on the names, it might help some other too.

Before it was names Cichlasoma Severum, and Cichlasoma is "maskulinum" and then it is Severum.
Now it is names Heros Severus, and Heros is "neutrum" and then it is Severus.

Maybe one should have listend more in latin :D
Hope it makes you clever too. :)

I agree with Florent. Pictured fish is Heros Severus which is mouthbrooder species as far as I know.

Good luck...what they labeled Heros efasciatus is actually Heros notatus. Careless at best.
