I'm going to go with 18 and thin as needed.

How good are Thorichthys at fending off tetras? Would I be able to witness some of the parental behaviors for 2-3 weeks if I introduce a medium sized tetra?

I can't find any of the central American tetras, so I will have to substitute with a SA species.

I think Tetras are better at eating Thorichthys fry than Thorichthys at easting tetras. That should not stop you though, just be careful to remove some fry when wanted.

I'll try some tetras.

I was worried that fry would be eaten as soon as they went free swimming.
