Congrats on all the spawns!!! I have also been experiencing similar results with 6 different species of Tangs. It looks like the New Year will be bringing lots of BAP's plus opportunities for new fish.

The remaining 9 hydros got rinsed and the lids got washed! So for the most part the six month maintenance has been completed.

It hooks right inside your tank and connects to an airline. There are holes drilled at one end and the other end has a sponge filter built right in. It provides great water flow. It measures about 8 inches long and about 4 inches front to back.

Right now I have some Pheno fry in there and they are thriving! My main reason for purchasing this, was in case I ever needed a tank in a pinch to place some newly born fry.

I actually purchased the pictured fry saver from Aquatica. I was talking with Steve today and he was telling me about a couple of new products he is developing, an egg tumbler that goes inside the fry saver, once the fry are free swimming they will swim into the fry saver. The other is a fry saver that, instead of hanging on the inside of the tank, this one will use magnets to hold the saver in place and have a slide lid.

I can't wait to grab a couple of these!

Here is something I thought I would share...

About 30 or so Chiloelo Red Shoulder (Aulonocara Stuartgranti)
The female was getting pretty tired of the male chasing her around the tank (even though I have a bunch of flower pots and floating plants in the tank) so I decided to separate them. She spit the eggs out once I netted her. The eggs are now in a Marina breeding box. The water coming into the breeding box steady enough to keep a good current moving without damaging the fry.

Here is a link to the breeding box at Ken's http://www.kensfish.com/product3709.html

Nice work James!

On the plywood under your tanks notes... I only use non-porous styrofoam products, even when I build a stand like yours which can handle two tank depths (13 and 18 or 18 and 24 etc). This material is forgiving and will form to your tank and stand combos eliminating imperfections (in the wood or workmanship) that could crack a tank. Given enough water every piece of wood will warp or swell and it doesn't care how much weight you have on it.

Curently I'm using a insulating foam with one foil side toward the tanks, the teory is it will (hopefully) reflect some heat loss back at the tank as well as the form fitting properties mentioned above.

What is the thickness of foam you are using?

Well it has been awhile since my last post so i figured it was time...

Here are some Protomelas taeniolatus fry that spawned on August 7th

I also built this stand that holds I believe a 32 and 40??????

I also started the process of the of rinsing out my sponge filters and wiping the algae from the under side of the glass top lids. I have about 6 more to go, I should be done with that next week. I usually rinse out the sponge filters about twice a year and every time I cannot believe the amount of "bio load" that is in the sponges!
