Private Messages and Emails

Postby Kyle May » Thu Feb 09, 2012 1:09 pm

Some folks cannot send or receive private messages (pm's) or emails through the forum.
This subject has come up frequently in the last few months.
This mostly affects those who are new to the forum.

Here is some advice that should help fix pm/email issues.

1) Go into your USER CONTROL PANEL
2) SELECT BOARD PREFERENCES
3) SELECT YES TO THESE QUESTIONS:

A) ALLOW USERS TO SEND YOU PRIVATE MESSAGES
B) ALLOW USERS TO SEND YOU PRIVATE MESSAGES

That should fix 99% of the issues you may have with these two forms of communication.

All,

Been in bed with the flu since last weekend.

@Matt: I've PM'd the system folks at CRC to see why you can't pm.
They are fast and should have you fixed pronto.

I don't normally post in here but I keep seeing messages I need to approve in this section. The main reason a newbie cannot use the PM system is the fact that they need to be physically removed from the new users group. This is the group you automatically join when you join the forum. The new users group has the main function of stopping spammers so no one on the forum is bothered by their presence. Once you post and we can see that you're a real member of CRC, we remove you from the new users group and are placed in the users group. This allows you to use the PM system. If you feel that you have not yet been removed from this group, feel free to contact me through a message in the Technical Issues area of the forum. Even if I have to approve you first, I will see the message.
