So Ingo, are we to consider the new species Cichlasoma zarskei is the one Cichlasoma cf. orientale 'Maranhão'? IS your article the first reference for it? One more thing, if so, would you have some pictures to illustrate it in the Cichlid catalog? Thanks for any help

Hi Juan, dear all,
first I thought the population which I called ''Cichlasoma cf. orientale Maranhao'' is Cichlasoma zarskei. After re-reading the paper by Ottoni I am not 100% sure anymore, because I dont know where the type locality of C. zarskei is. The Rio Maranhao (given as the type locality in the description) is not one of the major drainages of the state Maranhao. It might be a sub-drainage (of a larger stream) or it is a ''smaller'' river which flows into the Atlantic. Any help is welcome.
By the way, Cichlasoma zarskei is diagnosed by ''having a conspicuous posterior band of the longitudinal stripe''. Is there any ''conspicuous posterior band'' in the pictured holotype?

Dear Juan, dear all,
the author of the description informed me that the rio Maranhao is part of the rio Mearin drainage. Hence, it is indeed very likely that Cichlasoma spec. „Maranhao“ has to be labelled as Cichlasoma zarskei.
A friend of mine has fantastic photos of Cichlasoma spec. „Maranhao“ = Cichlasoma zarskei, and I guess he is willing to send you a jpg for the Catalog.
