Paratheraps melanurus "Lago Peten" Guatemala

Out of a dozen I ended up keeping a M/F/F Trio. The females are about 4" and the male is close to 6". The females are starting to display breeding colors but the male can care less.. They are in a 6' 180gallon tank and are the only cichlids in the tank. Ive had them since they were 1". Other tank mates are a dozen beefy clown loaches ranging from 6"-10".

I suspect that you may have a difficult time having any eggs/fry survive in that tank with a dozen beefy 6-10" clown loaches.

Those are real beauts Kevin!! I have a small group of the same population growing on myself, however only a little over the 1.5" mark, so not too impressive to look at just yet.

Was the catch locations ever confirmed with these fish? There was confusion that they were sourced from either Lago Peten or Lago Yaxha.

I got a group of 6 from the LFS. Mine are looking more like yours. Hope I can get mine to look like yours. thanks for the motivation.
