Plywood/glass tank question

I am building a plywood tank 96 long 24 wide and 18 high. I know lots of guys are coating it with epoxy, but I got another idea.
Is it possible to put thinner glass on the back and sides against the plywood and just 1/2 glass at the front???
Anybody ever do that?
