texas cichlid egg color... help

Postby awilson0001 » Thu Mar 31, 2011 6:21 pm

my texas female has laid eggs, but i fear they are not fertile. they are not white, but they are not brown or yellow either.

they are a greyish color... almost a green grey like the spots on the adults.

but is grey still non fertile? they are between 36 and 48 hours old.

there were three white eggs that i think the mom ate or removed.

I wouldn't worry to much unless they turn white. I have seen eggs all different shades of "clear" or "transparent" before and they still hatched. If they don't hatch there will always be next time if your patient enough.

Good Luck,

i kinda figured they were okay, but wanted to check.

i am worried i may not get a second chance. i can wait lol, but they worry me cause they hardly eat. got them at the feb. meeting and i think they have eaten just a couple times. i guess all fish are different.

i have tried omega one pellets, hikari pellets, blood worm, night crawlers, raw shrimp. i may open a discussion on that too.

When I had my Breeding pair, I fed them Ken's premium tropical flakes or NLS pellets. They would eat either regularly.
All fish will eat if they get hungry enough. Keep feeding them and they will come around. Be sure not to over feed you don't want to foul their water. Good Luck!
