They look a bit stressed, however I've never seen this form. One thing I would add is some sand to the tanks, most of Chromidotilapiine cichlids like to dig in the substrate.

They are wholesalers, and as such, fish are almost always maintained in bare bottomed tanks. We all know this, right?
