Vieja Synspila

Postby Lee Nuttall » Tue Jan 11, 2011 8:08 am

Hi,

Thought i would show some progression shots of a group of synspila i had a couple of months ago. Really pleased with their developments and colours have come out beautifully. As far as i'm aware, they are F1 Rio Grijalva population. 8)

The two fish pictured have seperated from the group. :D

Thanks Alex, some great potential with these. Just got a confirmation from Don that the population are from Rio Sarstun not Rio Grijalva as stated earlier. :)

Lee your fish are looking great. I currently have 8 that I purchased at 1". Mine have a tad more black in the body. Some also do not have the light blue eyes but overall they are looking good. You can check them out at YouTube type in smitty03281964.

A few quick photos of the Vieja synspila tank.

These two are still seperated from the group.

Hi,

The wood i use is a mixture of beech and oak. These woods are totally fish safe. Only collect winter time though as in spring/summer you will get sap leaching from the wood. My wood is usually collected from old dead weathered tree's, not rotting, there's a difference. I prepare by soaking and scrubbing in very hot water, and a quick blast with a pressure washer. Large thicker pieces will float for some time and will need securing. Thinner branches will sink within the week. :D

Hi Lee, very nice shots, I still envy you those pasionis... one of my ideas for next setup for my 120gal is just Pasionis group... :)

Anyway, as I see in the EXIF data you use quite low ISO... Do you find it sufficient for taking pictures? I believe that your centrals are not extremely active, because it 's impossible to take a pic of my Geos with 1/25sec.
Cheers
